-1- What's New?
Other than this updated readme, nothing :-) Just so you know though, Icon Land is not going to be updated as a whole any longer. Instead, I am going to release collections such as BeOS, NewtonOS, etc. Keep updated at onfire.homepad.com.

-2- About
Icon Land is freeware. See below for more information about this. Many of the icons in Icon Land were created or modified by me, but most have come from other collections or were taken from screen shots or gifs on the web. If any of these icons are copyrighted and you would perfer them not to be included in Icon Land, please contact me and I will take them out right away. Many of the icons are 256 color (or higher), meaning they won't look good if your display is set to 256 colors. For proper viewing of these icons, your display must be set to either high or true color, and you must either have Microsoft Plus installed with the option to show icons using all possible colors selected or use the Microangelo color depth selector, available from my website.

-3- Viewing
I have chosen to distribute Icon Land as .icl libraries. This just makes it easier for me to work with them. To view the icons, you can either change the icon of a shortcut or filetype, or download one of the following:
 :: Microangleo [shareware (www.impactsoft.com)]
 :: IconShop [freeware (www.ping.be/liontech)]
 :: GConvert [freeware (www.gdgsoft.com/gconvert)].

-4- Use
If you want to use an icon for a shortcut, right click on the shortcut, click Properties, click on the Shortcut or Program tab, click Change Icon, hit Browse, go to the folder where you have the icon libraries, and choose a file (to see the list of .icl files, you will need to have All Files selected under Files of type). After you select a file, click Open, and then select the icon you want. The procedure is much the same for a filetype, except that their properties are accessed through the View/Options menu of Windows Explorer. If you want to change your desktop icons, I recommend either one of the following:
 :: Microangelo Engineer [shareware (www.impactsoft.com)]
 :: More Properties [freeware {www.imaginary.co.za)]
 :: E-Icons 98 (freeware [http://members.xoom.com/EasyIcons98]).

-5- Acknowledgements
Thanks to all the icon authors who have allowed their works to be distributed in collections like this. Special thanks go out to the following companies or individuals:
 - Be, Inc. (www.be.com);
 - William Bull (www.artillion.com) for the unique style of his icons.
 - Mozaix New Media for the some of the "Win 98/IE4" icons (copyright 1996-1999 of Mozaix New Media, portions adapted from the Microsoft Internet Explorer desktop integration library).

-6- Freeware!
Icon Land is freeware. This means that you don't have to pay anything for it. Even though Icon Land is freeware, the file structure and organization is still copyrighted by me and should not be modifed before further distribution. Feel free to include Icon Land on free/shareware cds, floppies, or whatever, just please let me know that it is being done AND only distribute it in the ORIGNIAL archive with all files included.

Enjoy the icons!

Lord Jesus bless you,
adam
